Clean Eating Kale Basil Chips

Kale was never something I cooked with.  I would see it in the grocery stores and walk by it, never really knowing what to do with it.  That is until I started clean eating.  I love Tiffany from The Gracious Pantry.  I’ve discovered so many recipes that have helped me keep eating clean.

If you’ve never discovered Tiffany’s site you need to check it out.  Her Clean Eating Kale Chips are delicious.  I’ve made her recipe several times.

I was cleaning out my pantry and found a small bottle of basil flavored olive oil.  I had completely forgotten about it.  I also had some kale in the fridge.  So I paired the two together.  They were delicious.  For this recipe I used:

1 tbsp sea salt

2 Tablespoons of the flavored olive oil.  Generally I like to use one tablespoon of oil per bunch of kale.  A little goes a long way.

Baked at 300-I like to bake them a little lower as the first time I burned the batch I was making.

I keep the stems for other recipes.  I added them to my homemade turkey spaghetti sauce last week.  Make sure to really wash the leaves well.  And really get the oil massaged into the leaves too.

This his how they turn out.  Everyone loved the flavor with the basil.

This is how they look once the kids get to them.  :)

    Thank you Patty!
You have saved me money by giving me this recipe. I’m always buying Nori Chips, or other things like that. Kale is my fav! I am going to put this one in action right away.
    Thanks so much!

I’m for anything we can do to get kids to eat healthy snacks. Living out in the Caribbean, you’d think its not a big deal. Well it is! Just like everywhere else, we are having to take a serious look at the lifestyle of the “four-inch screen generation.”

Hi Rodney! Definitely anywhere we live I believe we should get kids and adults to eat healthy and make better choices. Since I began clean eating, it’s been interesting. I make everything because all you find in the stores is loaded with things that are just not good for you, and not meant for us to eat. I’ve taken it back to a time where everything was fresh, it’s more work but in the end it’s so much healthier. :)
